Guinness World Records certified the sale of the Most Expensive Cell Phone in the world – Goldvish Le Million Piece Unique which was bought by a Russian businessman for his wife for 1 million Euros ($1.2 million) in September 2006.

Created by GoldVish SA, a Geneva based luxury communication goods company, the cell phone is made of 18-carat white gold, mounted with 120-carats of VVS-1 graded diamonds. It was designed by Emmanuel Gueit and made as an addition to the ‘Illusion collection’. ‘Le Million’ Piece Unique is a limited edition item and is only available on special request.

There was a Guinness TV show on recently, where the news may have resurfaced to public consciousness. With the deflation of the US dollar it may be worth even more or we wonder if it were sold used, if would be worth less.

The Goldvish Le Million Cell Phone De La Nuit luxury mobile phone launched by the Geneva based Goldvish in 2007 stays on as the world’s costliest mobile phone. It claimed the covetous place by annulling the monopoly of Nokia’s Vertu in this segment. The Le Million was designed by Emmanuel Gueit who deems it as a specimen of Swiss craftsmanship. This gadget is priced at GBP 540, 540 for its 1800 diamonds totalling 120 carats. This Quad band GSM mobile phone also includes the standard networking features as the GPRS and EDGE as well as USB connectivity. The close contender is the Vertu Signature Cobra mobile phone from the house of Nokia that comes with two diamonds, three emeralds and four hundred thirty nine rubies. This luxury mobile phone is the outcome of Vertu’s joint venture with Boucheron jewellers and it boasts of a scratch resistant sapphire display face and eight hours of talk time. The Signature Cobra is priced at GBP 167, 167.

Sony Ericsson has also come up with a luxury gadget that costs an exorbitant GBP 47, 567. The Sony Ericsson Black Diamond is all about industrial looks rather than the flashy and gaudy looks of the Le Million and Cobra. This mobile phone was designed by the renown Singaporean industrial designer Jaren Goh for Sony Ericsson. This ultra slim luxury mobile phone flaunts a polycarbonate layered casing, OLED display and a 4Megapixel camera.
